Camp Accommodation Management in Perth, Trusted by Mining Companies
Cameron Facilities delivers professional accommodation management for mining camps and FIFO camp management workforce villages across Western Australia. The standard of a worker’s accommodation directly influences fatigue management outcomes, mental health, morale, and ultimately workforce retention—a metric that carries significant commercial weight in Western Australia’s competitive labour market. We manage every element of the accommodation experience to ensure your personnel have a clean, comfortable, and well-maintained living environment that supports quality rest and recovery between shifts.
Our accommodation management services include electronic room booking and allocation systems with real-time occupancy reporting, daily room servicing and housekeeping to hotel-grade standards, linen management including regular laundering and quality-controlled replacement cycles, amenity replenishment, air conditioning monitoring, and responsive maintenance for in-room defects. We manage room turnovers aligned to your shift changeover schedules, ensuring that incoming crews arrive at rooms that are clean, fully serviced, and inspection-ready.
Cameron Facilities operates in accordance with the DMIRS guidance on accommodation standards for remote and isolated workplaces under the Work Health and Safety (Mines) Regulations 2022. We ensure that room sizes, ventilation, noise insulation, lighting, ablution facilities, and thermal comfort meet or exceed the minimum standards prescribed by the regulations and the associated codes of practice. Our accommodation management plans are reviewed annually and updated to reflect changes in regulatory requirements, client expectations, and industry best practices.
All accommodation services are delivered under our ISO 9001 quality management system, with defined service level agreements, inspection protocols, and non-conformance reporting procedures. Our housekeeping teams follow standardised cleaning checklists, use colour-coded cleaning systems to prevent cross-contamination, and are trained in infection prevention and control principles relevant to shared accommodation environments. Monthly occupancy reports, housekeeping audit results, and maintenance data are compiled into management reports for your operations and commercial teams.
Whether your camp operates 50 rooms for an exploration team or 500 rooms for a construction workforce, Cameron Facilities provides the structured, compliant, and guest-focused accommodation management that supports your duty of care obligations and enhances the quality of life for your remote workforce. We manage camps across the Pilbara, Goldfields, Midwest, and Kimberley from our Perth headquarters, providing the centralised oversight and local site delivery that your operation demands.
Allocation Is the Whole Job
Camp accommodation management lives or dies on allocation. Every other part of the service can be excellent and the operation will still feel badly run if people arrive to a room that is occupied, unmade or not assigned to them. Allocation has to be driven by the flight and bus manifest, reconciled every time that manifest moves, and visible to the camp team, the client and the people meeting the bus. A room list that lives in one person's spreadsheet is a single point of failure, and it fails at the worst possible moment, which is changeover.
Good allocation also does work that is invisible when it goes right. It keeps day and night crews out of adjacent rooms. It holds a small buffer of rooms for out of service faults and late additions. It keeps contractors and visitors separated from permanent crews where the client wants that. It tracks who is actually in camp, which matters for emergency mustering long before it matters for invoicing.
The Room Readiness Standard
A room is either ready or it is not, and the only way to hold that line across hundreds of rooms and a rotating housekeeping crew is a written standard and a recorded check. Ours covers linen and bedding, bathroom and amenities, floor and surfaces, window coverings and blockout, air conditioning operation and temperature, lighting, power and data, door and lock function, and the absence of anything left by the previous occupant. The check is recorded per room, not per block, so a miss is traceable rather than deniable.
Where a camp is hot bedding, that standard applies to every turn without exception, because there is no spare room to move somebody into.
Linen, Laundry and Consumables
Linen is one of the larger consumable costs in a camp and one of the easiest to lose control of. The variables that matter are the change frequency agreed with the client, the par levels held on site, the laundry turnaround, and the rate at which linen is lost or condemned. All four are worth reporting, because a rising loss rate is usually the first visible symptom of a process problem somewhere else.
Maintenance Turnaround Inside the Rooms
Accommodation faults have a different urgency profile to plant faults. Air conditioning in a Pilbara summer is not a comfort issue, it is a rest issue and therefore a fatigue issue. Hot water, lighting, door locks and insect screens sit in the same category. We treat a defined set of room faults as priority categories with a target turnaround, hold the rest on a planned schedule, and report both raised and closed with ageing so that a growing backlog is visible before anyone has to complain about it.
Room Condition Over the Life of the Contract
Accommodation blocks degrade slowly and then suddenly. Without a condition record and a planned refresh, a village that was acceptable at handover becomes a retention problem three years later, and the cost of recovering it lands in a single year. We record room condition at mobilisation, re inspect on a cycle, and give the client a planned view of what needs attention and when, so refresh can be budgeted rather than reacted to. It is the same discipline as a maintenance plan on a commercial building, applied to a village.
What Accommodation Reporting Should Tell You
- Occupancy against committed numbers, by block and by day
- Rooms out of service, why, and for how long
- Room readiness checks completed against rooms turned
- Faults raised and closed, with ageing on the priority categories
- Linen par levels, losses and condemnations
- Condition trend and any refresh recommendations with timing
- Workforce feedback on accommodation, collected directly
